Red Bull Racing had an excellent weekend at the Monaco GP. Not only did Max Verstappen win the race with Lewis Hamiton finishing seventh and Valtteri Bottas retiring, but Sergio Pérez also performed well, finishing fourth.

A few days later, the Mexican driver is still pretty happy with his performance in Monaco. Where he struggled to control his Red Bull car at the start of the season, he is making more and more steps forward. "I’m happy that in the end we managed to have a good result, especially given where we qualified after a poor Saturday," Pérez told Red Bull's preview.

Pérez found the race very tough mentally. "As always, Monaco is just hard to keep the car out of the walls whilst being on the limit. Especially you need to know when to push and when not to, that is the key! The result on Sunday is a big boost for the Team and we’re definitely looking forwards to keeping it up there, but we cannot forget that it’s only race five of the season and there’s still a very long way to go."

Verstappen's teammate is therefore looking ahead to the next race in Azerbaijan. "I hope we can put a strong qualifying together because we’ve proved that our race pace is right up there with the best. We just have to improve our Saturdays and then we should be fine."
