Will Red Bull replace Pérez after the season: 'Then we will make our decision'
- GPblog.com
Red Bull Racing is still looking for the ideal driver alongside Max Verstappen. Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon have tried their luck in recent years, but both failed to live up to the high expectations. Sergio Pérez is also struggling this season.
The Mexican driver has shown to be an excellent driver in the past, but so far he has barely shown this at Red Bull. While the Austrians hoped that Pérez would be close to Verstappen to give the team more options in strategy, he often drives in the midfield. It already brought him the necessary criticism from Red Bull.
The team of Verstappen and Pérez would therefore like to give Gasly a second chance. "He still has a two-year contract with us, so we can put him in at both Red Bull and AlphaTauri," Helmut Marko told Formel1.de. "But at the moment we are not at all thinking about our lineups for 2022. We will start making those kinds of considerations from the summer break onwards, after which we will make our decision."

Pérez showed in Monaco that he is improving himself. He finished the Grand Prix on the fourth place and therefore just missed the podium. His team mate Verstappen took the victory by being faster than number two Carlos Sainz.
