Villeneuve: 'Vettel earns millions, that's why he's not retired yet'

After his controversial move from Ferrari to Aston Martin, four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel is not experiencing the dream restart he might have envisioned earlier in the year. Despite this, the German still has every reason to remain a driver in Formula 1, according to Jacques Villeneuve.
In conversation with Motorsport Magazine, the former driver gave his unvarnished opinion on whether Vettel should retire. "Why? He drives in Formula 1 and he makes a lot of money."
Food for thought
Villeneuve continued, arguing that, at the end of the day, Formula 1 is a nicely paid job: "People always say, 'Oh, he's not not winning, he should step down.' It's like everything in life: it's a job too. It's fun to race, but it's also a job. With this you pay for your children's education."
"If you can still drive in Formula 1, something like competitive, having fun driving a car and making millions in the process, why should you step down? Unless you're scared of dying or something", the Canadian concluded.
