Fernando Alonso is looking forward to F1's latest visit to Azerbaijan. The Spaniard knows that overtaking is a lot easier at the Baku City Circuit than at the tracks where the last two Grands Prix were held.
Baku popular with Alonso
"I've always enjoyed Baku," Alonso is quoted as saying by Marca. "It's a good circuit with challenging corners and good overtaking opportunities." The Alpine driver recalls a race in Azerbaijan where he was not allowed to start in the top ten, but still secured hefty points.
He also likes the unknown that Baku has. "It's a circuit where anything can happen, it's usually an unpredictable weekend." Finding the right set-up for the street circuit in Azerbaijan is not easy according to the Spaniard.
Confidence continues to grow
Alonso failed to score points in Monaco and Spain, but confidence is building for the Spaniard who returned to Formula One after a two-year absence. "I have more confidence in every race. I am in a continuous process of learning and improving the car."
