Sergio Perez has good memories of the Baku circuit. The Mexican was on the podium twice and that is potentially possible again this weekend. The teammate of Max Verstappen has a winning car at his disposal, but that has no influence on how he approaches this weekend.

Building further

In the press conference, Perez said, "That hasn't changed much, because I'm mainly looking at the now, how this season is going. I am building on the past weeks and I hope to have a good weekend here," quoted Formel1.de. The Mexican's goal in that regard is very simple: "You always want to get the full potential out of the car," which he will try to do again this weekend in Azerbaijan.

The street circuit is a challenge, but unlike Monaco, there are overtaking opportunities here. Nonetheless, a good starting position is vital and so Perez goes on to state that qualifying is an important prelude. "A good Saturday here will give you a good starting position for Sunday."

With that in mind, Perez is not letting emotions based on past performances at this track guide him. The fact that he has been on the podium here twice is obviously a nice thing, but that doesn't change the fact that, like every other driver, he has to completely rebuild this weekend.
