Christian Horner is delighted with Sergio Perez's victory on behalf of Red Bull Racing in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The team boss of the Austrian racing team saw Max Verstappen fall from a leading position. The team boss is disappointed, especially because there was no signal.

"We were about to take our first one-two since 2016," Horner lamented to Sky Sports. "Gianpiero Lambiase checked everything still with Max and everything was okay. We don't know yet why the tyre blew. We don't know if it was the debris that was still on the track. Luckily Max is okay because the place of the incident was not nice."

The fact that the left rear tyre gave out is causing misunderstanding. "We were managing the tyres well. It suddenly popped. We're going to investigate the tyre. At that moment it felt like the world was slipping out from under us," said Horner, who then saw Perez manage to deliver the win for the Austrian formation.

Perez doing his job

"He was great. Sergio was fast all weekend. His pace was impressive at the start. Maybe he could have caught Max with the overcut if the pit stop had been quicker. In any case, it would have been very tight," he said.

It almost became a double DNF for Red Bull Racing. "Sergio had a hydraulic problem, we were very worried he wouldn't make it. On the restart, we could only lose, but it worked out well for us. I'm very happy with Sergio. He absolutely delivered. It's unfortunate for Max."
