Pressure on Bottas mounting: ''That's a big problem for Mercedes''

Valtteri Bottas did not exactly impress at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last weekend. The Finn failed to score any points for Mercedes, and according to Ralf Schumacher he could be in trouble.
Bottas has not yet had a happy season in 2021. The Finn is under pressure at Mercedes to be of real value alongside Lewis Hamilton, especially now that George Russell is starting to knock on the door. The fact that Bottas isn't always performing well himself certainly won't help his cause. Ralf Schumacher expresses his doubts.
Pressure on Bottas
''Valtteri Bottas is very difficult as a person. In Monaco he was good, but in Baku he was bad again. That's a big problem for Mercedes in a championship battle. On the one hand you look at the constructors' standings, but of course also as support for Hamilton. Lewis does not have that at all now," said Schumacher in his column for Sky Germany.
''We always talk about an undercut or strategies. A good teammate can force another team to make certain choices. If that teammate is not around, it will not work. Additionally, a teammate can also hold up an opponent for a pit stop, leaving a gap to the leader. However, the current situation shows the class of Hamilton, if you see what he does with the car compared to Bottas," concluded the former F1 driver.
