Norris new king of regularity after Hamilton's unique fifteenth place finish
- GPblog.com
Lewis Hamilton's fifteenth place finish marked the end of a very special run. Indeed, it was the first time since the 2018 Austrian Grand Prix that he had not finished in the points at a GP where he was at the start. Now he will have to hand over the crown of regularity to another Briton.
After the Azerbaijan GP, Lando Norris is the only driver to have finished in the points in all races this season. That gives him, also thanks to two podiums, fourth place in the championship. In doing so he leaves behind drivers like Valtteri Bottas and Charles Leclerc, who seem to have faster material.

Norris still far from Hamilton's 'impossible' record
Norris' run has already lasted longer than the first six races of this season. In the last five races of 2020, he has already finished in the points. That is of course a great achievement, but in order to get into the record books, he will have to stay out of trouble for quite a few more races. The current record is held by Lewis Hamilton, with 48 consecutive points finishes, a series that ended with his corona contamination in Bahrain last year.
Those who dive into Hamilton's statistics will see that this fifteenth place in Azerbaijan is actually much more special than it already seems. It was the first time in more than eight years that the world champion did not lose out on points due to a retirement. The last time that happened was at the 2013 Spanish GP, where he finished twelfth.
