It's official: Esteban Ocon has signed a new long-term contract with Alpine that will run until 2024.

Ocon is currently in his second year with the Alpine team, which last year was still racing under the name of Renault.

With the three-year contract Alpine has shown its confidence in the Frenchman. Ocon is having a great season so far and is currently beating teammate Fernando Alonso in the qualifying battle.

Gasly to Alpine rumours

With the contract extension of Ocon, the rumours about Pierre Gasly seem to be solved. Helmut Marko had previosuly already denied that Gasly would be driving for Alpine, as he still has a two-year contract with AlphaTauri, and now that has been confirmed. Ocon's contract extension at Alpine also means that George Russell remains the only feasible option for Mercedes should they choose to replace Valtteri Bottas at the end of 2021.
