Red Bull Racing will look back at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with mixed feelings. Whilst Max Verstappen crashed out with a damaged tyre, Sergio Perez managed to win the race. For Red Bull's management it is confirmation that their choice of Perez was the right one.

They opted to give the Mexican a seat in 2020, leaving Alexander Albon without one in the team for 2021. Perez needed a few races to get up to speed, but his victory confirms he can fight for Red Bull in the Constructors' Championship.

Perez confident in Paul-Ricard

"Sergio has done a good job, his race performances have been getting stronger and stronger," Christian Horner explained to Sky Sports. The Red Bull team boss has seen up close how Perez won the race in Bahrain last year and how he is now growing within his team.

"To see him get the victory in Baku was great for him and his confidence is high. I had a great chat with him this morning and he is walking tall at the moment," Horner concluded.
