As in 2020, there will be a Styrian Grand Prix in 2021. Next weekend, the Austrian Grand Prix will take place on the same circuit as the Styrian race. The Red Bull Ring will be used twice to fill the gap left by the Canadian Grand Prix.

Rain over the Red Bull Ring

The first free practice could well have question marks. According to Weather.com from 08:00 local time, there will be rain showers over the circuit, and that doesn't decrease during the day. The teams will want to make some metres though, as there is also a good chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday.

In the first free practice session, we see the teams and drivers generally working on their setup with shorter runs in the early part of the session. The times will be faster and faster before the teams opt for long runs in the end. In the rain, however, this makes for entirely different plans, as a shortage of rain tyres means that teams often opt to stay indoors.
