Still no contract extension for Perez: "It should not take too long"

Sergio Perez is having an excellent season so far at Red Bull Racing. It took a few races to really get into it, but with a win the Mexican is currently third in the championship.
In the first five races Perez came not further than two fourth and two fifth places, but after the victory in Baku Perez was third in France. He took over the third place in the championship from Lando Norris. His teammate, Max Verstappen is 47 points ahead in the championship.
He hopes to make that lead a bit smaller in Austria. "You can race well here," Perez told the likes of Formule1.nl."I'm looking forward to it." For now, Austria is not among one of his favorite races. Perez never got further than sixth place at the Red Bull Ring.
Contract extension at Red Bull
Now Perez is doing so well at the team, the question arises whether he remains the teammate of Verstappen in 2022. However, he lets us know that there are no talks about this yet. "At the moment we are too busy with the races. There will be time to talk about it. It should not take too long, because I have bad experiences with that. But it will come naturally when you are comfortable in the team."
