As former teammates at Red Bull Racing, Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen have experienced a lot on the Austrian team's home circuit. Red Bull has a reputation for letting their drivers do all sorts of things.
Speaking at the press conference ahead of next weekend's Styrian Grand Prix, Ricciardo looked back at some of those moments he experienced with Verstappen in Austria. "We drove around as co-drivers in drift cars and I had to put on countless lederhosen," he quotes Motorsport-Magazin.com. "I also ate a lot of schnitzels. I didn't have to, but I just eat a lot. Especially the drifting was cool."
Ruined everything
"We also had a thing about dancing once, the waltz I believe," Ricciardo continued recalling his memories. Charles Leclerc, sitting next to him at the press conference, also lends a hand. "You had a race with caravans once." Ricciardo: "Oh, how could I forget that, yes! Merci, Charles! With the Astons and the caravans! Max and I ruined everything here. That was the highlight!"
When Verstappen joins the press conference a little later, he too is asked about crazy memories of the circuit. The Dutchman initially starts talking about his two victories, but is asked about memories off the track. "Nothing," Verstappen replies at first, but when he refers to the race with the caravans. Presenter Tom Clarkson points to the caravan race with Ricciardo just mentioned. "But that was on the track! Out of focus thinking of you. You can see we're last today," Verstappen jokes.
