Ricciardo satisfied: 'Tonight I have earned a few schnitzels'

Daniel Ricciardo can look back on a good first day in Austria. In the morning the Australian had to settle for 12th, but in the afternoon he was right up there with the second quickest time, behind only Max Verstappen.
Quite a good afternoon
In front of the Sky Sports F1's cameras, Ricciardo was satisfied with Friday's sessions. "It was quite a good afternoon," the McLaren driver revealed. "We had a good day and the speed with little fuel in the tank looks very promising. With a lot of fuel on board there is still some time to be gained but overall we had a productive afternoon."
Ricciardo just didn't expect it to stay dry for the entire session. "We were expecting a lot of rain, I saw it on the radar and it looks like the rain has just missed the track". With the second quikcest time he is very satisfied. "It's only Friday, but of course we'd rather finish the first day in the top three than tenth. We still have to fine tune the car, but we're in a good place. Let's just say we know what we're doing well."
Extra schnitzels earned
Ricciardo wouldn't be Ricciardo if there was also some joking during the interview. The Australian has let it be known on numerous occasions that he is a big fan of Austrian cuisine. "Yesterday I had three schnitzels, but they were really baby schnitzels. Tonight I deserved a few extra", Ricciardo laughed. "They were really small though so actually I'm lying when I say I had three. I get a lot of energy from Austrian food so if those schnitzels give me a tenth, I'll be happy with that."
