In his analysis of qualifying for the Styrian Grand Prix, Formula One journalist Peter Windsor sees Max Verstappen put in another rock-solid performance. He was the only one to break the 1.04 barrier that seemed to exist for the current Formula 1 car at the Red Bull Ring, and for good measure, he did it once more. All in all, Windsor sees Verstappen at an advantage, and headaches at direct rival Mercedes.

"There was a barrier out there to be broken today in Austria for Formula 1 cars in this current configuration; 1.04 around the Austrian Circuit," Windsor began in the usual analysis of qualifying on his Youtube Channel. "Max did it twice. 1.03.8 and 1.03.9 in his last run."

Speed trap

Windsor points to Verstappen's greater top speed as one of the reasons behind his spectacular qualifying, a fact that could again work in the Limburger's favour at the Grand Prix. "Both laps good enough for pole. Both laps heading through the speed trap around 314 kilometres an hour."

Windsor continued: "A number that has been irritating Mercedes all day because the best that Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas are doing through that same speed trap is around 310, 311."
