Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen have reminisced about the past during the press conference. The Spanish double world champion said that he even drove against Jos Verstappen, something that Max still remembers. Alonso was also asked whether he would ever be the teammate of the 23-year old Limburger.

"I have driven against Jos the Boss", Alonso told among others Motorsport.com. Formule1.nl was also present and writes that Verstappen's first memory of Formula 1 dates from around 2002. "I was 2 or 3. Later I often drove the F1 games with Alonso, he became champion and his car looked cool," states Verstappen.

Alonso and Verstappen together in a team?

Max Verstappen is currently in his seventh season in Formula 1. Alonso has already had many more years at the highest level and is now 39 years old. When his current contract with Alpine expires he will be 41 years old and for that reason he doesn't expect to ever become Verstappen's teammate in the premier class of motorsport.

"Teammates? I think it could happen in the future, but not in Formula 1. Maybe in endurance and at Le Mans." At the end of last year, Jos also did not rule out ever participating with son Max in the 24-hour race in France. Verstappen himself however has indicated several times that his full focus will remain on Formula 1 in the coming seasons.
