Ocon puts these rumours to rest: 'It's not true'
- GPblog.com
Where Esteban Ocon seemed to be pulling the cart at Alpine at the start of 2021, it has now been almost two months since the driver scored points for his team. In light of his deteriorating form, as well as the ever-improving Fernando Alonso, Ocon stresses that his relationship with the team is still good.
As for the rumours that Fernando Alonso's strong performance in Austria may have turned the mood at Alpine to Ocon's disadvantage, the Frenchman cannot be clear enough. "That's not true, I don't feel it that way," he revealed to Speedweek.
Above all, Ocon prioritises the team's interests, "It's generally good for the team when Fernando picks up the pace. But we need both cars in the top ten to maintain our position in the midfield and take fifth place in the constructors' championship."
Plans for Silverstone
At Silverstone, it will be seen whether the rest weekend has done Ocon, who failed to reach Q2 in Austria, any good. He believes that for the British Grand Prix all possible means should be seized. "We must leave no stone unturned before Silverstone", concludes the Frenchman.
