Rumor: 'Perez will remain Verstappen's teammate until at least end of 2022'

At the end of last year, Sergio Perez signed a one-year deal with Red Bull Racing. Teammate Max Verstappen signed until the end of 2023. The team seems happy with Perez's performance and they even lead in the constructors' championship. It is now rumoured that Perez will continue to drive for Red Bull in 2022.
The Spanish newspaper Marca has learned that the Mexican will remain Verstappen's teammate in 2022. There is only doubt as to whether the deal will be for one year only, as Red Bull wish, or for several years, as is desirable for Perez.
The magazine reports that the contract extension talks are going well, but the announcement may be delayed due to these minor disagreements.
Perez third in the championship
So far, Perez seems to be a good match for Red Bull. After Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon failed to meet the team's expectations, Perez seems to be doing just that. In Baku, Perez won his first race for Red Bull and he is currently third in the championship.
With Perez as a new recruit, Red Bull can finally contend for the constructors' championship. They are currently in the lead with 286 points, with Mercedes following in second place with 242 points. Verstappen and Perez also seem to get along well, so there are plenty of reasons for Red Bull to keep Perez in 2022.
