Red Bull Racing is facing an important decision that will affect the future of no less than three drivers. Max Verstappen has already secured a seat for 2022, but Sergio Perez, Alexander Albon and Pierre Gasly do not yet know where they will be racing next year. Helmut Marko discusses the current situation with the German branch of Motorsport.com about the current situation.

Gasly is, for now at least, still fixed at Red Bull. "He has two more years of his contract to go. Until the end of 2023, " clarified Marko. The big question is whether we will see the young Frenchman return to the Austrian formation after an 'unsuccessful' six months.

Gasly himself says he is more ready than ever to take his place alongside Verstappen again. "Let's start with that quote from Gasly. I completely agree with him. This is the best Gasly we have seen so far," said Marko, who would not say anything about a possible return in the future. "At the moment that question is not on the agenda."

Conversation with Gasly

In any case, the Austrian top man does acknowledge that Gasly has become a lot more mature. "I had a long conversation with Pierre recently in Graz. He will not (in the future) react or perform like he did at Red Bull Racing." Whether there is a scenario that Perez will no longer drive for Red Bull in 2022? "We have to see. We'll make our driver decisions in the summer break, I would say."

Marko has praised Albon's role as a test and simulator driver. The British Thai is doing very well according to Red Bull, which is why Marko wants to keep him within the Red Bull family. However, if Albon receives an offer from another team, Red Bull will not stand in his way.
