On the day that Formula 1 will announce its new cars for 2022 and the pre-race press conferences will also take place, it was announced that McLaren team boss Zak Brown will unfortunately not be able to attend the weekend. A positive COVID infection means that the American will have to go into quarantine.

COVID at McLaren

The question immediately arises whether there is also a danger for other team members or even the two drivers of the McLaren team. However, in an official message, McLaren let it be known that there are no concerns on that front: "McLaren Racing has today confirmed that three team members, including CEO Zak Brown, tested positive for covid-19 during the team's rigorous testing programme ahead of the British Grand Prix. None of our drivers are close contacts," the statement said.

The team further stated, "All three cases are unrelated and are now being isolated in accordance with government guidelines. The team's activities for the British Grand Prix are not affected."

Work

Brown himself is feeling well and will simply carry out his work for the team from home: "Following the tests our team carried out for the British GP, I tested positive for covid-19. I have informed all my closest contacts and am isolating myself as per government guidelines. I will still keep in touch with the team safely from home and support the team," he wrote.
