The first sprint race in Formula 1 is over after today. Max Verstappen, despite the new set-up this weekend, continued where he left off during the last tripleheader. He secured pole position for tomorrow's Grand Prix thanks to an overtaking move at the first corner.

Verstappen spoke out for the first time at THE PRESS CONFERENCE. He had to get used to it but said he was happy on track during the sprint race.

"I think what was nice in the beginning was that obviously you start with less fuel in this race, so the cars are obviously faster and that's what you like and the car is a little bit more lively. So that was nice compared to a heavy car and everything and it's just slow at the beginning, so I definitely enjoyed that bit."

Sprint race preparation different from normal?

That question was put to Verstappen during the press conference. "What's important is to try and get a good start, put a good first lap down and then obviously try and work your way in, you know, and follow your pace. That's what I tried to do, what I thought about before I got in the car. Of course, if it works, it's great. I don't think much changes at the end."

Tomorrow, Verstappen will try to defend that first place from the first corner and prevent the same thing from happening to him as Hamilton did at the start of the sprint race.
