Christian Horner was outraged by Toto Wolff's visit to the stewards during the British Grand Prix when there was no decision on the incident between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. The guidelines have since been tightened by the FIA and the Red Bull Racing camp is satisfied with that.

Christian Horner told The Race that Red Bull heard through the television broadcast that Wolff went to the stewards. That did not please the Austrian racing team at all. “It is a little bit like trying to lobby a jury while they make their final verdict. The stewards are locked away to ensure they are independent of external influence in order to reach their own conclusions."

Red Bull went after Wolff

The Brit didn't leave it at that and went to seek redress. " I went up to see them and raised the point that neither of us should be there and it was not appropriate for anyone to interfere while the decision making process was underway," he continued. Horner has previously criticised the way the Silverstone circuit is run.

On Wednesday the International Motorsport Federation sent an e-mail to all teams explaining what is and what isn't allowed. Horner is happy with that. "It is also detailed in the sporting code that this is not acceptable and I am now pleased to see that the FIA have clarified that this sort of lobbying will not be tolerated in the future as it may well pressure the stewards into a decision that is not wholly fair or impartial.”
