Red Bull Racing is still the leader in the world championship with Max Verstappen. The Dutchman is eight points ahead of Lewis Hamilton who took victory at Silverstone. Helmut Marko is very satisfied with the team.

Verstappen has Sergio Pérez as his teammate since this season. Where Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon failed to come close to Verstappen's performance in recent years, Pérez also struggled in the early stages of the season. However, Red Bull's advisor sees the Mexican getting better and better.

"We have Pérez, so we have a second strong man," he told F1-insider.com. "That is very important for the strategy. From the beginning, his race speed was very satisfactory. Where it was a bit lacking was in the qualifying sessions, but that too has improved. He gets on very well with Verstappen and all the technology."

Marko enthusiastic about Russell

Next, the conversation turns to George Russell who has a chance to leave Williams for Mercedes. Marko has a clear opinion on this. "If a driver of Russell's calibre was with us, he would be in a competitive car now. The performance he gave with the Williams in qualifying was exceptional."
