Valtteri Bottas unintentionally played a starring role in Sunday afternoon's Hungarian Grand Prix by causing a big collision at the first corner. It resulted in several drivers being unable to continue, which the Finn regrets.

The Mercedes driver told in conversation with Motorsport.com that he is looking entirely at himself. "When I started to brake I was still getting closer. Then I blocked my wheels and hit Lando. That caused that whole chaos."

Bottas meanwhile spoke to Lando Norris and Sergio Pérez to apologise for the incident. "Yes, it was clear that I caused the mêlee. I said it was my fault so they know I'm not trying to blame someone else. That's how I do it: I accept the mistake."

Battle in championship

Norris, Bottas and Pérez are fighting together for third place in the championship. Where the McLaren driver is on 113 points, Bottas has five points less. Pérez comes in behind them with four points less than the Finn.
