George Russell finally managed to score his first points during the Hungarian Grand Prix. The British driver crossed the finish line in ninth place and rewarded himself for his hard work. On Tuesday Russell will get behind the wheel of the Mercedes car.

The German racing team asked Russell to take care of the tyre test at the Hungaroring. On Tuesday Pirelli will test new tyres with 18 inch rims that might be seen under the cars of the Formula 1 teams next year. The driver of Williams decided to accept the request, so on Tuesday he can be admired for a short time in a Mercedes.

Possibly Russell will drive for Mercedes next season. The Englishman is making an excellent impression in his team this year and therefore attracts the interest of the German formation. Mercedes is not entirely satisfied with the performance of Valtteri Bottas and seems to want to trade the Finn in for Russell. The coming weeks should show whether this actually happens.

Hungarian Grand Prix

Russell was not the only driver to score his first points in Hungary. Nicholas Latifi was also able to celebrate for the first time this season. The Canadian crossed the finish line in eighth place and therefore has four points to his name.
