If you look at the used parts of each team before every GP-weekend, you always notice one specific thing. Alpine has already used almost every exhaust allowed this year. They are currently on their seventh exhaust, where eight is the maximum allowed.

Executive director Marcin Budkowski is not yet worried about possible grid penalties for exceeding the maximum number. "We had a problem at the beginning of the season which meant we could run limited on our exhausts, to avoid them breaking during the race," Budkowski reveals to Motorsport.com.

No worries (yet) at Alpine

As a result, they are already on their seventh exhaust halfway through the season, but according to Alpine, they can still use all of their exhausts. "We introduced a number of exhausts at the beginning of the year to mitigate the risk. We think we have solved the problem with a specification we have introduced this season."

"We don't expect any grid penalties this season, but it is obviously the case that we have used more than we intended at the start of this season," Budkowski concluded.
