This is how big Hamilton's lead over Verstappen would have been had he maximised it
- GPblog.com
Just like Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton's season hasn't been 100% trouble free. We saw earlier that Verstappen would have had a big lead over Hamilton if he hadn't had bad luck, but the same can be said for Hamilton.
If Hamilton had maxed out, the Brit could have been on 225 points by now. He would have had a lead of almost 40 points. He would have won six races, finished second three times and added a seventh place in Monaco.
Reality is different
Although reality has changed over the last two race weekends, Verstappen was dominating and ahead of Hamilton for a long time. Now, as of the summer break, Hamilton is eight points ahead and Mercedes also leads the Constructors' Championship.
