Pérez builds on Verstappen: 'It's hard in that regard'

Sergio Pérez has the unenviable task of being Max Verstappen's teammate this season. The Mexican hasn't always done well before the summer break, but is confident that he and Verstappen will help Red Bull Racing progress.
Pérez alternated excellent races with disappointments this season. He took victory in Azerbaijan, while at other Grands Prix he sometimes failed to score any points at all. Together with Verstappen, he is trying to improve himself, Pérez tells Motorsport.com. "I have a good relationship with him on track and off track, so we are able to share our views regularly."
The driver says he can learn a lot from his teammate, who is second in the world championship for the time being. "Obviously my issues that I speak about, he probably doesn't find the same thing, so we drive differently. It's hard in that regard, but we are pushing the team forward together, so that is good."
Possible departure of Pérez
Pérez is expected to drive a Red Bull car next season as well, but alternatives are also been talked about in the media. Pierre Gasly, for example, is doing well at AlphaTauri and would be considered for a return to the Austrian formation. More clarity seems to be on the way in the coming weeks.
