The former boss of the Grands Prix of Abu Dhabi and Russia, Richard Cregan, has been appointed CEO of the Miami GP. There he will lead a team of board members who all have experience in organising Formula One events.
The Miami Grand Prix organisers are keen to bring in European know-how for the new race scheduled from 2022, combined with people who have experience of hosting sporting events at the Miami Dolphins NFL stadium.
"Miami has been a dream destination for Formula 1 for many years, and I am honored to take on the role of CEO," Cregan said in a joint statement at the official website of the F1 Miami GP. "I am very excited about what we can start to achieve together."
Grand Prix organizers say they are pleased with the experience Cregan brings. "Our first goal is to put on a great race, and we're building a track that we think is going to do exactly that. We are fortunate to have someone with his Richard's experience to lead our team," reads the statement from Tom Garfinkel, Managing Partner of the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.
