Finally, it is time for another race weekend. Formula 1 is ready for the Belgian Grand Prix, and that starts as usual with the first free practice session. Will Max Verstappen be able to perform immediately with Red Bull Racing's new updates, or will Mercedes once again be too strong on the Spa-Francorchamps power circuit? You can find out in this live blog.

LIVEBLOG: First free practice for the Belgian Grand Prix

During the summer break, teams are hardly allowed to work on the car and engine, so you would expect most teams to arrive in Belgium with the same car as in Hungary. Red Bull Racing have planned updates for this GP, so Verstappen will be driving the car with new parts.

Updates at Spa

Mercedes presented their latest updates at Silverstone. Those updates in combination with new tyres from Pirelli seemed to make them just a bit faster than Red Bull. So the question now is whether Red Bull, with the new updates, can find the momentum again from the five wins in a row earlier this season?

The first free practice session is normally dominated by setup work and a long run. We'll see some quick runs during the session, but the teams are still trying to find the right set-up. It will be interesting to see how Mercedes and Red Bull compare to each other.
