Max Verstappen and Red Bull seemed to be heading for a dominant first half of the season. Thanks to the races in Silverstone and Hungary this has changed a lot. Partly because of that, Lewis Hamilton is back on top of the standings.

Karun Chandhok says in a video for SkySports that Red Bull really need to start worrying. "There is nothing between the two cars performances during qualifying. Critically, Lewis Hamilton was on pole during the last two races. That would be a bit of a worry for Red Bull and clearly in Hungary Mercedes took a step forward and clearly was the best car. Yes, Max had more bad luck. Because of what happened in Hungary, Silverstone and Baku, they did miss out on 58 points. So they could have been 50 points ahead now."

Mercedes getting closer

Chandhok sees this too, but he assumes Red Bull have also realised this. "They will surely be wary of the threat coming from Mercedes as the season progresses. The fog and rain is already there and will be there all weekend. It's going to be one of those weekends where you can have different weather conditions at different parts of the track. So it will be very complicated."

Whether Mercedes will continue this line during the upcoming tripleheader or whether Verstappen and his team can pick up where they left off will become clear in Belgium. That's where the second half of the season starts next weekend.
