Bottas unsure about race: 'It's going to be close with Red Bull'
- Toby McLuskie
Valtteri Bottas had a very strong Friday at Spa. The Mercedes driver finished on top in FP1 and was behind only Verstappen in FP2, a performance in which the Finn feels content with.
Bottas happy with work on Friday
"It didn't look too bad on the pace. The long-run and short runs were decent," Bottas told Sky Sports after the second session of the day.
"The feeling is good which is positive and quite strong in the first sector and then losing in Sector 2, but for me, it's important to be strong in the first and third sectors of the race."
Weather could change whole race
The weather was a key factor at the start of both practice sessions today, causing teams to scramble and change their tyre choice early in both hour-long sessions. When asked if the weather would affect the race, Bottas gave his thoughts by saying, "if it rains then you definitely need more downforce. It will be a key decision, what we choose for qualifying. Luckily most of the running is on dry. Everything feels good. It's going to be close with the Red Bull."
