Marko: 'I think we should play it safe for qualification'

The conditions were difficult for the drivers in the third free practice session at Spa-Francorchamps. The wet but drying track caused quite some drivers to spin or go straight. It also looks like the qualification will be held under wet conditions.
Playing it safe
In front of the cameras of the Austrian TV channel, ORF Helmut Marko also confirms the treacherous conditions in Belgium. "We knew virtually nothing about the weather in the Ardennes. It was constantly changing," the Red Bull Motorsport-Magazin the Red Bull advisor. "I think we have to play it safe and go into qualifying and the race with a lot of downforce. Just because the conditions are so changeable."
Confidence in the drivers
In third free practice, it was noticeable that Verstappen was driving with a very small rear wing and thus little downforce, but in qualifying, Marko wants to change tack and opt for a larger rear wing in qualifying and the race.
The performance will depend more on the drivers themselves, but Marko is confident. "Max is in good form, yesterday's slip didn't do anything to him, he was just a bit overconfident. And Perez is getting in better and better shape too." In the third free practice session, Red Bull Racing scored a one-two with Verstappen almost a second quicker than his teammate.
