Christian Horner is delighted with Max Verstappen's first place in qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing team boss saw his Dutch driver excel on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, together with George Russell. The Williams driver was complimented by Horner.

"The main thing is that I think Norris is doing well," Horner kicked off the interview with Sky Sports before continuing on to talk about how the hectic Saturday afternoon went. "It was a matter of threading your way through the sessions. Follow the conditions and not pre-empt anything. We made the right calls at the right time. He [Max] got himself into a good position and made that lap count."

On Russell's second place, Horner says: "George's lap was phenomenal. But it's good to get pole position. We have fresh air ahead of us. Get a good start. We know that we are going to be vulnerable if you are the lead car as you come out of Eau Rouge."

When asked if race director Michael Masi should have waved the red flag right at the start of Q3, the British chief replied, "That's a tricky question. The conditions changed so quickly."
