'Albon ready to race at Spa due to unclear coronatest'

Williams enjoyed its best weekend in years at Spa-Francorchamps with George Russell on the podium and Nicholas Latifi in the points as well. The team took a big step towards securing eighth place in the Constructors' Championship.
Unclear corona test Latifi
Latifi's excellent qualifying on Saturday meant he qualified ninth in the race and therefore went home with a point, just as he did in Hungary. However, the Canadian was very close to not qualifying at all at Spa, British journalist Joe Saward revealed on FormulaPassion.it. "Latifi had an uncertain result on his corona test and while he waited for further testing to be greenlit, Williams looked around for a potential replacement."
According to Saward, that would be Alexander Albon. "Rumours were circulating that the first choice for the Belgian weekend would be Albon, currently a Red Bull reserve driver." According to the rumours, Albon would also be one of the favourites to drive at Williams in 2022. In addition to the Thai-British driver, Dutchman Nyck de Vries would also have a great chance to win a seat at Williams. De Vries became world champion in Formula E this season and has previously won the Formula 2 championship.
Away at Red Bull
Albon began his Formula One career in 2019 at Toro Rosso but was promoted to Red Bull Racing in the summer break. However, at the end of 2020, he had to make way for Sergio Perez after disappointing results, after which he ended up on the reserve bench. With Perez confirmed for 2022 and a strong chance of Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda staying at AlphaTauri, Albon will be keen to look beyond Red Bull.
