After 36 years Formula 1 is finally back in Zandvoort. The Dutch Grand Prix starts this weekend, with the first free practice session. Can Max Verstappen work his way to victory in his own country for the first time, or are Mercedes stronger here? You can follow it all with this liveblog from GPblog.

The Netherlands has had to wait for a long time, but after 36 years the time has finally come. Niki Lauda was the last driver to win an F1 race at this circuit but since then in Zandvoort, the necessary adjustments have been made to make the circuit work with modern Formula 1.

Adjustments at Zandvoort

With two new corners, a new paddock and a new pit lane, those changes have been made and so for many drivers, it will be a matter of figuring out how to get the fastest time at Zandvoort. Almost nobody has data available on this circuit, which makes this practice session all the more important.

The first free practice session will be an interesting one. Teams and drivers won't want to sit inside for long and will want to work on their setup right away. Whoever is able to adapt the car to this unique circuit the quickest, will probably have the best chance of winning on Sunday.
