With the departure of Kimi Raikkonen and the possible arrival of Valtteri Bottas and Nyck de Vries, it seems Alfa Romeo might be able to attract two Mercedes drivers. The question then is: will the Mercedes engines also come to the Italian team?

According to Blick, this could very well be the case. At this moment Alfa Romeo are mainly part of Ferrari and use a Ferrari power unit. But according to the site, this could be about to change. The main reason for this is the possible transfer of drivers.

Will Bottas and De Vries make switch to Mercedes engine?

It would be a logical conclusion. Valtteri Bottas of course has long been part of the success formula at Mercedes, and Nyck de Vries is part of Mercedes and just last season he won the championship in Formula E with Mercedes.

"Talks with Honda and Renault came to nothing," said journalist Roger Benoit. That leaves Mercedes available, of course, and knowing that Toto Wolff and Frederic Vasseur are good friends and that two Mercedes drivers could be driving in the Italian team soon, it is very possible that the Mercedes power unit will follow.

The question is how sponsor Alfa Romeo will react to that, just like Ferrari of course. In any case it is all just rumours for now, but an extra team with a Mercedes power unit could be a realistic scenario from next year on.
