Max Verstappen is getting ready for the first home race in his Formula 1 career. At the Zandvoort circuit, the Dutchman will have the opportunity to beat his rival Lewis Hamilton and regain the lead in the world championship.

The Red Bull Racing driver will do so this weekend with a helmet especially designed for the Dutch Grand Prix. The design is reminiscent of his period at Toro Rosso. Back then he drove around with a similar design. On the helmet the Dutch flag is visible.

Verstappen often has a special helmet made for home races. He already did so for the Grands Prix of Belgium and Austria. Last weekend he also wore a special helmet when the race at Spa-Francorchamps literally fell into the water.

Verstappen versus Hamilton

The Dutchman was eight points behind Hamilton over the summer break, but he narrowed the gap in Belgium. Thanks to the half points that the FIA decided to hand out, Hamilton's lead has been reduced to three points. Next week the Italian GP is on the programme.
