Pérez expects change: 'It will be very important'

Red Bull Racing announced during the Belgian Grand Prix that Sergio Pérez will also be part of the Austrian team next season. The Mexican had already heard it a couple of weeks ago, however, he tells Motorsport-total.com.
For a long time, the question remained at which team Pérez would drive for in 2022. Since he hasn't performed as expected at Red Bull so far this season, there was a chance that the team would choose another driver. However, Christian Horner and Helmut Marko let Pérez know that a contract extension was on the cards. "They told me not to look elsewhere. They wanted to keep me, I wanted to stay. It was clear to both parties that we wanted to continue together," explained Pérez.
Where this season he is mainly doing his best to stay close to Max Verstappen, Pérez expects to be able to help his team more next year. "I came to Red Bull at the end of the current technical era. The team probably didn't have much advantage then. But next year it will be very important to have experience and stability. I think it's a great opportunity."
Pérez battles for third place in World Cup
