Hamilton loses power in FP2 and has to stop practice
- GPblog.com
Lewis Hamilton came to a standstill during the second free practice for the Dutch Grand Prix. After eight minutes of driving the British driver indicated that he lost power, after which he parked his car.
The world championship leader had an excellent start to the race weekend by setting the first time in the first free practice session. Hamilton was faster than Max Verstappen who finished in second place. The next few hours will show how big the problems of Mercedes are.
Hamilton turned the engine off himself, which suggests the team found the issue on their data charts. This is better for Hamilton when compared with the engine dying by itself. The Brit also checked the back of the car for fire, but didn't see anything. This is unlike Vettel's Aston Martin which had smoke coming from the Mercedes engine in FP1.
To the cheers of the orange army, Lewis Hamilton stops out on the circuit with a power issue. He causes a red flag. The second power related issue for a Mercedes car already this weekend. #F1 | #Formula1 | #DutchGP | #FormulaOne pic.twitter.com/ga15wLEfh4
