Hamilton after engine problems: "I just lost power"
- GPblog.com
For Hamilton, Friday afternoon in Zandvoort was not a great success. During the second free practice he could not go much further than five minutes. His engine broke down and the Briton could not collect valuable data.
The Briton saw Verstappen do his laps and take the lead in terms of knowledge. Yet Hamilton also knows there was not much he could do about it. He tells SkySports.
"I just lost power. So, they just told me to stop. It's not the end of the world. It's a beautiful day in terms of the weather and there are so many people here. It's incredible to see the full energy. We'll see in the coming days how much more energy the Dutch fans bring."
Hamilton looks at Bottas
Where the Briton didn't get much further than a few laps, Bottas has collected a lot of data. And of course the Brit can use that for himself as well.
"Only 20 minutes of running which naturally puts us on the backfoot. Valtteri seemed to have a good session, but hopefully we can make up some time tomorrow. I changed some things and did one lap with it. It's hard to get points out of the change, but Valtteri has been running a lot and get a lot of data from the long runs, but we'll see how it goes."
Hamilton will be hoping that the damage is limited with a loss of data. That would mean he could be in action for tomorrow's third free practice and qualifying session at Zandvoort.
