Zandvoort circuit director: "We have been through a lot of misery"

The Dutch Grand Prix is considered a huge success. Organisers Bernhard van Oranje and Robert van Overdijk are flooded with compliments by fans, teams and F1-people.
Orange fans are unheard of in Formula 1
"I just spoke to Toto Wolff and he said this team has set a benchmark in Formula 1. I am so proud of the team that has done a fantastic job. Really bizarre," Van Oranje said in front of the Ziggo Sport camera.
"I really thought it was more than fantastic. How many compliments do we get about these fans. That is unprecedented. Unprecedented in the history in Formula 1. To just see so many Orange fans for one driver. Max Verstappen has created something unique here with the Dutch fans and that is now going all over the world," Van Oranje concludes.
Tears for Van Overdijk
Van Overdijk says he is going through a lot of things. "You immediately start thinking: 'what can you do better next year?' What a fantastic happening. I just heard Toto Wolff say that we have set a new benchmark in the world of Formula 1. Of course, it really feels like that now. What could we have done better than this?"
"We stood on the race tower and we saw him cross the finish line and of course then tears come. We've been through a lot of misery and had a lot thrown at us. But on the other hand, we have kept our heads in the wind and our chests out," Van Overdijk concludes.
