Max Verstappen took a home victory at Zandvoort on Sunday afternoon. During the Dutch Grand Prix he was not troubled by Lewis Hamilton who finished second.

Marca

Spain's Marca was impressed with the way Verstappen dominated in the Netherlands. "One lion against two Mercedes and two opposite strategies. And he was able to beat them both, at the start, at overtaking or whatever they threw at him. He recaptured the lead without mistakes."

La Gazzetta dello Sport

In Italy, they noted the panic at Mercedes when Valtteri Bottas snatched the fastest lap from Hamilton. "The end of the race came to life when Bottas set a surprisingly fast lap, forcing Mercedes to call Hamilton to the pits to drive on the soft tyre. At the chequered flag, Lewis took back the point for the fastest lap, but what a mess!"

Sky Sports

At Sky Sports they enjoyed the Dutch crowd. "Verstappen led from the front and did not put a wheel wrong in the first home race of his career despite coming under pressure from Hamilton at different points of the Zandvoort race, played out in front of astonishingly vocal and colourful local support in the orange-clad grandstands."

Auto, Motor und Sport

Auto,Motor und Sport states that qualifying was important for the Dutchman's victory. "It seemed that Red Bull and Mercedes were on equal footing at Zandvoort. Lewis Hamilton missed pole position by just 38 thousandths. And from first place on the grid, the race would probably have been very different."

Bild

Bild also found the orange crowd remarkable. "The Formula 1 race in Zandvoort was one big party! During the home victory of local hero Max Verstappen in the Red Bull, the small North Sea town just outside Amsterdam is engulfed by an orange wave. The big party starts with the practice sessions on Friday and culminates in the victory on Sunday afternoon.

L'Equipe

The French L'Equipe just couldn't get over Verstappen, who recaptures the lead in the world championship. "Max Verstappen, imperial from start to finish, did not spoil the party organised by his compatriots to mark the return of Formula 1 to the Netherlands. By winning in front of his fans, the Dutchman took over the lead in the championship from Lewis Hamilton."
