Lewis Hamilton was extremely positive about Valtteri Bottas following the announcement of his departure for Alfa Romeo Racing. The seven-time world champion got on well with Bottas and thanked the Finn for his unconditional support over the last few seasons in the premier class of motorsport.

"I'm immensely proud to have working alongside Valtteri for the last five years," Hamilton began on his social media. The British driver has been through a lot with Bottas. "Together, we've been part of a team that has delivered four Constructor's Championships, and we've motivated one another to keep pushing through the ups and the downs."

Bottas best teammate

Hamilton drove alongside world champions such as Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso and Nico Rosberg, yet he cites Bottas as the best teammate ever. "He has been the best teammate I've had the pleasure of working with. Your speed and resilience has been impressive, but where you truly stand out to me is the human being you are and gentleman. You are greater than you know, and I know there is a bright future ahead for you," he states.

After the 2021 season, Bottas will leave after a five-year partnership. He will be replaced by George Russell. Hamilton's final words of thanks: "Thank you Valtteri for all of your support and amazing contributions to this team. You will be missed. I wish you all the best for your future. Let's finish off strong and get that 8th for the team."
