Robert Doornbos has a lot of admiration for what Robert Kubica has shown during the weekend of the Dutch Grand Prix. Moreover, the Dutch analyst is very happy with the fact that the boos towards Lewis Hamilton were not heard at the Zandvoort circuit.

Kimi Raikkonen tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday morning and so Kubica suddenly had to start. "I think he is still on a respirator because he was not race fit for an F1 car," Doornbos says. A few weeks ago, the Pole almost won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the car of Kubica, Delétraz and Ye came to a standstill three minutes before the end.

The spectators were having a great time at Zandvoort on all three days, and of course, Doornbos did not fail to notice this. "The fans have behaved insanely and that has been a great showcase for Formula 1. Cheering constantly and showing respect when I interviewed Lewis Hamilton. That was really impressive," he says.

Wolff and Horner also happy with Dutch fans

Team bosses Toto Wolff and Christian Horner also enjoyed the atmosphere. "We still had Toto with us at the end of the broadcast. He's been around the sport for a while and said he'd never seen anything like it," Doornbos said. "And Christian thought he was in a nightclub for three days, it was such a party. This is really special, sports history has been written."
