No grid penalty for Verstappen this weekend: Dutchman will not get a new engine
- GPblog.com
Red Bull will soon have to make a decision on where Max Verstappen will introduce his fourth engine. It will affect Verstappen's race, as the Dutchman will receive a grid penalty for changing the engine.
During the FIA press conference, the Dutchman confirmed that he will not incur a grid penalty at this weekend's Italian GP, as long as the weekend goes according to plan of course. "The engine we are using now is still relatively new. We haven't decided yet where we will take the grid penalty, but in any case our plan is not to do it here," the Dutchman let it be known according to Ronald Vording on Twitter.
Wise decision because of sprint qualifying
It would not have been wise for Verstappen to collect the grid penalty this weekend because of the sprint qualification that is planned. The grid penalty is only collected during the race on Sunday, so he would drive the sprint race for nothing.
