Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are fighting for the world title in 2021, but haven't really been fighting since Silverstone. Sam Collins will be hoping that the two Mercedes and Red Bull Racing bantams are close enough in Italy to put up a good fight.

After the British Grand Prix, Hamilton and Verstappen didn't really race wheel-to-wheel anymore. In Hungary, Verstappen was practically bowled out of the race by Valtteri Bottas, and in Belgium, there was no racing at all. In the Netherlands, the two were close on the track, but the RB16B combined with Verstappen was simply too strong.

Battle with Hamilton

''There will be fireworks this week because we didn't get it at Spa. There we would have seen Hamilton and Verstappen wheel-to-wheel on a high-speed circuit, but unfortunately, that didn't happen due to the weather conditions. Red Bull had such a lead at Zandvoort that we didn't see a duel there either,'' said Sam Collins at the Weekend Warm-Up.

''We know Red Bull can deal with circuits with long straights. In Monza we expect Mercedes to have an advantage, but the question is how big it is. I really want to see those two fight on track again, because that will be really exciting. The last time they really went wheel-to-wheel was at Silverstone, and that was also a weekend with a sprint race,'' concludes the Formula1.com analyst.
