Max Verstappen has got pole position during Formula 1's second sprint qualifying due to Valtteri Bottas'penalty and Lewis Hamilton's poor getaway. Bottas was the fastest driver during the sprint, but will not start on pole due to his engine change prior to this weekend.

First medal for Verstappen

"It's my first medal in life! It's great to see the Italian fans again. It went better than expected. We had a good start and jumped straight to P2. We will start on pole tomorrow. I gave everything to close the gap, but it's definitely going to be interesting," said the Red Bull Racing driver after sprint qualifying.

"I must say that we have trimmed our car to have better top speed. So I'm not worried about our top speed, but Mercedes will have a good race tomorrow as well," Verstappen concluded.
