Sergio Perez is still struggling at Red Bull Racing. Like his predecessors Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon, he has yet to close the gap to Max Verstappen. However, the Mexican is increasingly finding his way at Red Bull.

Experienced man to Red Bull

Perez was brought to Red Bull in 2021 to be the ideal second driver alongside Verstappen with his experience. Gasly and Albon were deemed too light, but Perez is also struggling to adapt. He has already won a race and finished on the podium, but the gap to Verstappen is still large. Perez is struggling to adapt to all the new things at Red Bull, but says he is making steps in the right direction.

''Little by little I follow my own path. I am testing different things and trying to make it work. Because we have so little driving time it's just hard to try different directions during the same race weekend and that's of course what you want. Anyway, the whole process has been a lot harder because we have so little time in the car this year,'' Perez said according to Motorsport.com.

Difference with Verstappen

Like his predecessors, Perez is also struggling with Verstappen's set-up. The Dutchman is able to drive with a very unsettled rear end and control it. Gasly and Albon had the utmost difficulty with this, and Perez too prefers to opt for a different set-up.

''Yes, there are some differences. For example, I like having a more stable rear end compared to Max, especially in medium-speed and high-speed corners. That gives me a bit more feeling in the car and I like that better. It is also an aspect we are working hard on behind the scenes at the moment'', concludes the Mexican.
