It looks like the 'Silly Season' in Formula 1 will end this season with Antonio Giovinazzi. Only the second seat at Alfa Romeo is still in doubt because the rest of the F1-grid is already confirmed for next year or seems a certainty for this season. So for Giovinazzi, there are still a few exciting weeks to come, while he is currently performing very well.

The Italian can already be found in Q3 twice in a row, namely at Zandvoort and Monza. Still, he can't say anything about his possible future in F1 just yet. "I knew that Valtteri will drive an Alfa next year, but from my side, there is no news yet. Of course, I want to announce some news as soon as possible, but it is not my decision", Giovinazzi admits in conversation with Formula1.com.

There have been many rumours recently. Among others, Guanyu Zhou, Nyck de Vries and Theo Pourchaire would be contenders to take a seat next to the experienced Finn at Fred Vasseur's team. "I know there are a lot of rumours, but it's not my decision so I just have to focus on my performance. I have to make the most of qualifying and the race and then we'll see what happens."

For a long time, Alfa Romeo seemed certain of the eighth position in the constructors' championship, but the advance of Williams has suddenly left them in a relatively large gap to ninth place. A lot has to happen at Alfa Romeo this season. "We all want the same thing, to get the best possible result for the team. That's clear", Giovinazzi concludes.
